Last week I posted an article by Mark Manson that was entitled “Screw Your Passion.”  It was one of the most direct and amazing read for me in a long time.  We have become a culture of people that are desperately looking to “find their passion,” and getting nowhere fast.

I totally agree with him and his views.  You know what your passion is, you are just ignoring it.  In addition to that, who says that we all have to LOVE what we do.  Sometimes we don’t love what we do but we have to do it anyway to pay the bills and simply be productive members of society.  Ok, nothing wrong with that.  Keep your passion alive when you are not at work.  Do what you love outside of work.

Today though, I am going after those that know what they want to do and are just sitting on it.  Sometimes for years.  Why?  Back to the title of this piece. Are you scared?  Listen, no one is going to do it for you.  You have to be willing to do it yourself. If you need help, ask for it but don’t just sit there waiting for something you want to drop into your lap.

I’ve had quite a few friends lately, go to this seminar and that seminar, all to get motivated. Great.  A few days later, that inspiration is gone and they are right back to where they started.  Same place.  Don’t get me wrong, motivational speakers – they motivate. But do so in the moment.  Unless you hire them to give you that motivational speech every day of your life though, honestly, what is the point of being inspired if you don’t do something with it?  ACTION is really what gets you to where you want to go.  So again, are you scared?  We all are at some point in our lives.  Difference is some of us use that to spur us forward and the rest end up letting the fear hold them down.

Are you scared?  Yes?  Well, here is another question for you, what is scarier to you – being right where you are five years from now or taking one step at a time towards what you really want in life?  You decide.
